There are people who easily fall for scams and there are some who successfully avoid these dubious businesses. Are the former just too stupid? Are the latter more experienced with the world?

Intelligence does not really factor into it when it comes to scams. There are summa cum laudes and nerds who have invested in scams. Intelligent executives have been known to fall for these booby traps. Experience may sometimes have an effect but how about those who have gotten into one scam after the other, leaving a trail of loss and disappointment? Ultimately what determines a person's susceptibility to scams is not their IQ or their exposure to the world of scammers but the traits that they have or don't have. 1. Trusting If you are the type of person who believes everything that people tell you, then you are under this category. These people are the Pollyanna's of the world who feel that everybody can do no wrong. Often, they are righteous and principled so they don't really believe that people are not like them. Too trusting people will take your word when you say it and they will wait and wait for you to honor it. This is the reason why some people get scammed over and over again.

2. Impulsive These are the ones that get into one scheme after another without really thinking about the consequences. They don't study their projects first before getting into them. They just look at one offer and if their gut tells them that it's a good deal, they pay up even though they know nothing about the company. Although following your intuition is an important aspect in becoming successful, sometimes you need to study the background before you get into it.

3. No experience These are the ones who absolutely don't have any idea about the business or the product that they are buying. Because of this, they are easily led into believing the words of the people that are selling the service or the product. After all, how can they contest something that they know nothing of? This is why it is important for people to research on the product or service that they are buying before they plunge into it. With a little knowledge, you can easily spot a scam and avoid it.
