There are a lot of people who are out to scam you. After all, in this dog-eat-dog world, only the wise and the tough can survive. As much as we hate to admit it, getting scammed is as much our fault as it is the fault of the con artists. There will never be successful scammers if there are no people easily scammed. If you don't want to fall prey to these people, you have to be one step ahead, wiser and tougher. Below are three things that you need to know to avoid getting victimized by scams and scam artists.

1. Be doubtful Unlike newspapers and magazines which have editorial integrity to preserve, sites do not have such limitations. Some sites take advantage of this by publishing untruths. So do not believe everything that you read on site.

If a product has testimonials from people, do not assume that they are real testimonials. Some sites will pay people to testify for them. Some will even just invent the recommendation and the name. After all, who's to know? Its online. These sites that promise tons of money or very effective products will often fall short of their promises. What seems too good to be true, usually is. Besides, if the product is truly remarkable, it would not have been just sold in an obscure manner without at least getting some media coverage for it.

2. Be thorough When doing your research, cover all avenues. It is not enough to just look at the website and to have an office listed on the site. Try to call the office and make sure that the office does exist. And by doing this, it does not mean that you are already finished and you have determined that the site and the service that it offers is legitimate. This is not the end of the road yet. You have to make sure that the company is established. Usually, five years of operation is an indication that it is legit. Most con work will only last at the most a year. As soon as it gets enough money, it will close shop.

3. Be on the safe side. If you really want to avoid scams, always be safe. There is nothing wrong in being cautious, in asking questions and in making sure that everything is spic and span. You see, if you see a service or a transaction with doubts and start to listen to those doubts, you are better off.
